Framing Doorways
One of my favorite projects I have now done in 2 houses is adding some pine framing to the doorways in my home. I think that it adds so much character and charm to a space - which is why it was one of the very first projects that I did on my new home after realizing the difference it made in my first house!

To do this project, you’ll just need some pine boards cut to whatever desired width you’d like. For this project, I did 1x4 boards as the side pieces and a 1x6 across the top. I also mitered the edges at a 45 degree angle for this project so that they look like “faux” beams but the first time I did it without mitering and it looked just as good! Just a tad more “rustic” and less “polished”
For the stain - I did a prestain wood conditioner, then I applied the colors “dark walnut” and “antique white.” I have linked them down below - click on the pictures to purchase.
I ended up measuring everywhere, cutting all my boards to length, and then staining them prior to putting them up. Once they were up I filled in any gaps or imperfections with wood filler and then stained the corners again so everything looked perfect!

I’m truly obsessed with how they turned out!! I think it added so much character and warmth into my kitchen and living room. They are one of the first things that you see when you walk into my home and I will always be happy that it was one of the first changes that I made!!
If you have some unframed doorways in your house - don’t be afraid to try out this project, it really is a very simple DIY but makes the biggest difference!!
